Geography
At Pashley Down, Geography is a journey of discovery that begins right on our doorstep. Nestled in the heart of the South Downs, our school offers a rich and inspiring environment where children explore the natural world and begin to understand their place within it.
Our Geography curriculum is rooted in hands-on experiences and meaningful connections. Children learn to observe and appreciate the geographical features of our local area — from the rolling hills of the Downs to the coastal town of Eastbourne, which offers stunning views and real-world examples of human and physical geography.
Our approach blends Geography with Science, History, and Art, creating a vibrant, cross-curricular experience. In Year 2, pupils explore Mexico City, comparing its cultural and geographical features with our own environment, and linking their learning to an exciting art project inspired by key Mexican artists.
We aim to spark curiosity, build geographical vocabulary, and develop a strong sense of place — both locally and globally. Through fieldwork, storytelling, and creative exploration, our children begin to see the world through a geographer’s eyes: full of wonder, diversity, and connection.
