Big Schools’ Birdwatch
February 8, 2026 - 12:06 pmYear 2 had a great day today!

Today, Year 2 explored what birds need to thrive – learning about protein, fat and the right foods to keep our feathered friends healthy.
They also learned how to identify common local birds and listened carefully to their bird calls, sharpening their observation skills.
The children put their learning into action by making bird feeders and hanging them around our outdoor areas. We then took part in the Big Schools’ Birdwatch, hiding quietly in bushes and behind walls to see who would visit.
Our sightings included jackdaws, pigeons, blue tits, robins and herring gulls.
And yes… it rained.
And no… it didn’t stop us!

Brilliant teamwork and resilience
from Year 2 today.
